The impossible made possible

Adam Kun drops a trick that I used to joke about 20 years ago. It was a trick we laughed about – something impossible – and he has landed it on video and laid claim to an impossible trick.

This is the equivalent of climbing Mt. Everest in the BMX flatland world.

My grandmother always told me that anything was possible with enough hard work. I’ve always believed her.

Teh Hotness – King of Ground Finals (BMX Flatland)

BMX flatland is right up there with video games and comic books as one of my life’s great passions and while I don’t ride much anymore, I still follow the flatland world closely – and this just had to be shared.

The Japanese King of Ground (KOG) series has been the home of some of the most exciting flatland contests ever held. Here are some highlights from the last KOG contest.

To me, this is what bike riding will always be about – originality, flow and mastery.

Teh Hotness – Leap4Blue

Fellow Canadian indie developer and universal wunderKid, Noel Berry, has released his latest game Leap4Blue.

It’s a visually stunning puzzle platformer with some really fun mechanics. I’ve only begun to scratch the surface on this one, but I know I’ll be sinking a good amount of time into it.

I had a chance to meet Noel at OrcaJam a few weeks ago and he’s just as awesome as his game.

I’m really looking forward to Noel’s next game – it has a core mechanic that is very similar to my next game and it’ll be fun to see how each of us explore the mechanic in our game’s design.

Teh Hotness – Grant Morrison – Talking With Gods

With all of the games coming out in October, it might surprise people that the October release I’m looking forward to the most is a documentary called Talking With Gods.

Grant Morrison is a comic book writer. Morrison’s current run on Batman and Robin is some of the best super hero comics I’ve ever read (and my earliest memory is reading super hero comics on my Grandma’s floor 33 years ago).

Morrison’s work, particularly The Invisibles, has been a persistent source of inspiration for me over the past 15 years. The Invisibles is a magick spell disguised as an action, conspiracy, horror and counter-culture comic.

Yes, you read that correctly, a magick spell:

Morrison taught me to look deeper, reminded me to dream and opened my mind to the power and potential of media.

Talking with Gods is a deeper look into Morrison, his life and his work and to say I’m looking forward to watching it is an understatement.
